According to UNICEF (United Nation International Children's Emergency Fund) around 150 million children are engaged in slavery or labor. Nearly 1 in 4 children in under developed countries are forced into labor by the age of 5, being hazardous, sexual, or any other types of labor. why does it exist? |
Facts |
A popular question about this topic is why does it exist? One reason being that children who work either have been neglected, abducted, or their families are too poor to provide for them so they work. In other countries, child slavery can also include being forced into armed conflict. This includes being sent to training camp for the war or acting as a distraction for foreign soldiers. Also they can be forced into marriage or sexual orientation. Parents will often sell their daughters for this in order to make money.

Even though normal everyday civilians have a hard time speaking up against this issue. Although I am a normal person just like everyone else, I really believe we can do more as a nation. Child slavery is not as popular in the Unites States as it is in other parts of the world, it still exists. As people we need to speak up and try our best to stop this issue. We are more capable then we think.
